Data brokers quietly assemble a profile of you from public records, then sell it to anyone who pays: people-search sites, background-check services, and marketing lists. Most are legally required to let you opt out, but there are dozens of them, each with its own form, and several put you back on the market a few months later. Stampout is the checklist that keeps track of all of it.

It is built for people who want off these sites without handing a subscription service the exact name, address, and email they are trying to protect. You file each opt-out yourself, mark it confirmed, and Stampout stamps the card and sets a date to check the broker again.

How Stampout works

1. Open a broker's opt-out page from its card and submit the request. Mark it requested so you remember it is in flight.
2. When the broker confirms the removal, mark it confirmed. The card gets a rubber-stamp OPTED OUT and a recheck date based on how quickly that broker is known to re-list people.
3. Come back when something is due. The What to do today view shows only the brokers that are overdue or due soon, most urgent first.

Frequently asked questions

Is Stampout free?

Yes. It is a static web page with no account and no backend. Your opt-out progress is saved in your browser, and you can export it to a JSON file to move it to another device.

Does Stampout remove my data for me?

No. It never contacts the brokers on your behalf and never sees your personal information. It is a tracker: you file each opt-out through the broker's own form, and Stampout remembers what you have done and when to revisit it.

Why recheck brokers I already opted out of?

Several people-search sites rebuild their profiles from fresh public-records pulls, so a listing you removed can reappear months later. Stampout schedules a recheck for each broker using a re-list interval, so the ones most likely to have re-added you rise to the top.

How is this different from a paid removal service?

Services like DeleteMe and Incogni file opt-outs for you for a recurring fee, which means giving them the data you are trying to keep private. Stampout keeps you in control: it costs nothing, stores nothing on a server, and shows you every broker so you decide what to file.

Which brokers and states does it cover?

The dataset lists 40 major US brokers across people-search, background-check, marketing, and credit-marketing categories, each with a direct opt-out link. The state reference covers every US state and DC, showing which comprehensive privacy law is in force and the rights it gives you.
